We had a great time building and programming robots today. Third and Fourth classes worked with the Junior Classes helping them use our Bee-Bots to trace out the numbers from 0 to 9. They helped them by using code to build a set of instructions the robot could follow, one step at a time. They had great fun and then got some bricks to build mazes for the Bee-Bots.
Third and Fourth had to write a program the Bee-Bot could follow to navigate a more complex maze in one go. They did very well on that challenge.
Fifth and Sixth built a VEX robot which is part of a project being promoted by Offaly County Council. It took a while but they got there in the end. They then learned how to control their robot by making it go through a simple maze in less than 1 minute. Again it was tougher than it looked, but with practice they finally managed to beat the clock.
