Saying Goodbye & Dropping Back Books etc

Dear Parents,

We’ve had a couple of queries regarding the return of books etc. The following is how we plan to facilitate this.

We would love it if as many of you as possible could do a “drive by” of the school on Friday 19th at 12.00 pm. This is the traditional closing time for the summer holidays and we would love to have the opportunity to say goodbye in person to as many children as possible. The teachers and SNAs will be at the school to wave goodbye on Friday to whoever can make it. We cannot allow pupils out of the cars to mix with others as the current restrictions will still be in place. We will be handing each child a little goody bag as they pull up to the school. We would have done this if they were in school and we want to keep up the tradition.

We will also take any school rental books or laptops if you would like to return them on the day. The rental books are mainly the Planet Maths 3rd to 6th class and English readers. If your child has any other book rental books such as history or geography books we will take those as well.

To be as safe as possible as you approach the school and as the majority of traffic will be coming from the Cloghan direction we ask that once your child gets their bag of sweets and the books you want to return have been collected that you continue on towards Kilcormac. You can turn at the white Bord na Móna gates about 1 km from the school. This will help keep traffic moving around the school. Cars from Kilcormac direction can pull in outside Paddy Gilligan’s house.

We understand this may not suit everyone and you may not be able to come by on the 19th. I will be in the school Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of the following week until 3.00 pm for anyone who wants to drop off books etc. on those days.

Mr. Gilligan
